Cannabis NB achieved a net income of $23.1 million from sales of $100.9 million in its 2024-2025 fiscal year ended March 30, 2025.
This marks a 7.6% annual increase in sales for the provincial cannabis agency and a 1.5% increase in net income over the previous year. This allowed Cannabis NB to give back $18.7 million to help fund programs and services across the province.
Total sales of dried flower were $50.9 million, while concentrates were $33.8 million. Edibles were $7.2 million, accessories were $2.8 million, infused beverages were $2.7 million, extracts were $2.5 million, topicals were $657,000, clones were $255,000, and seeds were $95,000.
Sales of accessories, extracts, topicals, and seeds all declined, while all other categories grew. Dried flower sales were 50.5% of total sales, followed by concentrates at 33.5% and edibles at 7.1%.
There were 8,405 kg of dried cannabis sold, 4,234 kg in concentrates in dried flower equivalent (DFE), 1,326 kg of edibles (DFE), 256 kg infused beverages (DFE), 114 kg extracts (DFE), and 52 kg “other.” All of these figures increased from the previous year, except “other.”
In the most recent fiscal year, Cannabis NB carried 1,432 different products from across Canada, with 495 from Ontario, 321 from New Brunswick, and 176 from Quebec. This included 120 concentrate SKUs, 44 pre-rolls, 43 whole flower, 36 edibles, and 19 clones. The corporation employed 263 employees.
Cannabis NB achieved profits from 46% to 69.8%, depending on the product category. In-store sales saw the average annual ticket remain relatively stable at $58.73, down slightly from the prior year’s $58.89, while transaction counts increased to 1.6 million.
Cannabis NB president and CEO Lori Stickles told a standing committee on October 8 that “between 38 and 54% of consumption that’s happening today is happening through regulated sources.” This is well below the estimated legal market capture for all of Canada at 78%. One of the ways the province is seeking to expand that figure is by introducing new stores in parts of the province being underserved by the legal market.
New stores and events
Cannabis NB recently opened a new store in Hanwell, the 30th provincial store. The province also has 10 private cannabis retailers and seven farmgate private retailers, all in over 30 communities.
The cannabis agency held its second Expo Cannabis consumer education event on March 15, 2025, with more than 30 cannabis supply partners, 27 exhibitors, and nearly 1,000 age-gated visitors. The Expo also had an on-site Cannabis NB store. About 30% of attendees travelled from outside the region to attend Cannabis Expo.
The CNB Learning Symposium was also held in Moncton from October 22–24, 2024, allowing all team members from across the province to attend learning sessions from various licensed producers and hear provincial operational updates.
Cannabis NB’s Holiday Countdown Calendar has also now officially hit the shelves for 2025, featuring 34 products from 17 different brands.
